Street artist D*Face is giving others a run for their money with brilliant spray can sculptures. You'll love it even more when you learn about the method. D*Face dressed as a council worker in yellow jackets while he and his crew installed the pieces. They then unwrapped their works of art and sprinted off. Imagine the expressions and the applause of the bystanding Londoners as the street artists sprinted off. Genius!
"Don't be alarmed by the way I DJ!" ... Tricks may look harmless, he may be called Hen.Kid by his crew, but he can still lay down a filthy, dark, dangerous mix. Mixing together the best from Chase and Status, Dylan, Generation Dub, Simon Bassline, J Majik ... Resident at several Bristol clubs and played for the like minded Bassman and Trigger. Dubstep has been one of the most exciting musical melting pots over the last few years. From the techno-tinged outings of 2562 to the deep percussive onslaughts of Shackleton, from Burial’s enigmatic and haunting garage and early rave days nostalgia to the genre-bending works of people like Scuba, Mala, Martyn or T++, dubstep has always kept the pace, exploring new sonic territories.
Finally the brooding dubstep scene becomes its first documentary. It’s been about time that a someone takes on the task of filming a documentary on dubstep. Now it’s arrived and it is called ‘Dubfiles’.
Apparently the DVD features interviews with top producers like Skream, Benga, Pinch, Hatcha, Caspar and many more, taking the time to look behind the scenes, discussing personal and musical backgrounds, art, politics, food and a whole lot more.
There is also a CD compilation to accompany the DVD, which features tracks from most of the interviewed artists like ‘Big Headed Slags’ by Caspa, to Rusko’s ‘Get Ya Cock out’, D1’s ‘Dubstep Warz’ and Pinch’s ‘Airlock’, alongside recent winners from Benga, Skream and N-Type.
‘Dubfiles’ should be available in all good independent music stores, or you can order it at boomkat.com.
Top Track: London Elektricity – All Hell Is Breaking Loose
After a two year hiatus London Elektricity, aka Tony Colman, has returned with an album full of soulful energetic tracks which will no doubt stick a gigantic, electrified cattle prod into the arse of drum & bass.
Consisting of live, orchestral, funk driven dnb, the album is a compilation of massive anthems. One track however specifically stands out, the aptly titled, ‘All Hell Is Breaking Loose’.
Tony Colman, who runs Hospital Records, with fellow cohort Chris Goss has constantly been a forward thinking innovator within drum & bass, and with this track has set an entirely new standard.
Incorporating a vast array of influences from soul, blues and rock this track maximises various production elements to it’s greatest. Some producers within the scene can knock out tracks within a few hours, but from one listen you can easily tell why Tony Colman took so long to perfect this.
With a massive soul sample exclaiming, “You can’t hear me, all hell is breaking loose,” the tone of the track is set instantly.
A massive funk bassline runs though this track like a juggernaut whilst interspersed with John Barry-like orchestral samples.
Jungle Drummer throws in a crazed mish-mash of jazz driven high velocity beats that challenges anyone to not join in a crazed air drum salute.
This hell driven, adrenaline-fuelled reaches its crescendo when the track bursts into a massive guitar solo, pinpointing the genius and true creative nature of London Elektricity.
Take note that this fella is a massive fan of The Equalizers after they played back2back at Bristol's the Tube. Bing Tings!
"It's sort of twisted minimal vs cheeky minimal" these are the words used to discribe this mix when it was given over to me by the talented Alfie Granger-Howell aka Solarity aka Spencer Vallance. Having looked high and low for a quality minimal set and failed, this set has made my fortnight (hoping Spencer Vallance will give me another in a couple weeks). Looking forward to hearing this duo through some Funktion 1 sound soon.
Check out the Spencer Vallance myspace and definitely have a listen to their first tune, it's dirty dirty tech-house, and i Love That Tune! www.myspace.com/spencervallance .
Also, check out the progressive side of things, through the eyes of Solarity.
Had this remix sent to me through Underground Music Lovers Group on Facebook. Love This Tune at the moment. It's glitchy, rounded, cheeky, it's Nice...What do you think?
Mobile DJs and music producers rejoice, because the word on the grapevine is that new MacBook Pros, MacBooks and iMacs are a-comin’. Details inside. According to Apple Insider: The new MacBook Pro will sport a new form battery cover that spans the width of the system, also providing access to the notebook’s hard disk drive when released via a latch on the bottom of the casing. A new metal casing is one hell of a rumour as far as the MacBook pro is concerned, because it hasn’t seen a physical upgrade for nigh on seven years. In 2003 the MacBook Pro (then called the PowerBook) switched to the now infamous aluminium design. They changed a little in 2006 with the addition of a built-in webcam, albeit not as significantly as Mac Insider are making out regarding the 2008 range. They go on to say: Together, the redesigns of the MacBook and MacBook Pro are radical enough that they’ll warrant a special introduction. Slimmer MacBooks are on the way Both will see their first industrial design overhaul since adopting Intel processors over two years ago. Most notable will be the 13-inch MacBook’s metamorphosis from a plastic-wrapped portable to one clad in aluminum and stainless steel. Like the upcoming redesign of the MacBook Pro, the MacBook will be highlighted by aesthetic revisions reminiscent of those used on the new MacBook Air and the latest aluminum iMacs, such as instances of matte black on portions of the casings and tapering around the edges to produce a slimming effect. Internally, both are also rumored to sport a mysterious chipset that is something other than Intel Corp.’s Montevina. (Note: this should not be confused with the CPU, or primary Intel processor.) As far as iMacs are concerned, Apple Insider reckons: Separately, Apple is also planning to refresh its line of 20- and 24-inch iMac seasons ahead of the holidays. People familiar with these plans have described the refresh to consist of ‘speed bumps’ rather than major internal or external changes. Based on the roadmap presented to AppleInsider, these systems would debut later this fall following the release of the new MacBooks, making their way to market with little fanfare. Sketchy shot of the sexy new MacBook Pro Whilst you’ll have to wait until fall for new iMacs, the new MacBooks are allegedly due in October. Is the picture on the right what Apple’s future product is going to look like?
This Thursday, September 25th Pacha Ibiza will be host to the prestigious DJ Awards ceremony, celebrating 11 years of the event which recognizes the most talented DJs worldwide across several genres, as well as honoring those who have contributed to the music industry. The prestigious “Kryptonite” awards are decided on by the public and go to a selection of DJs across several genres, with winners from previous years including top tier DJs like Sven Vath, Roger Sanchez, and Carl Cox. UK DJ Des Paul will be hosting, with special guest performances from Ron Caroll and German producer Fragma, with the F**k Me I’m Famous Crew featuring David Guetta and special guests taking charge of the afterparty.
Tigerbeat, a new DJ/Producer from Seattle posted/gave this fresh new mixtape called “Kate Moss Titties” up to the internet and with it he had this to say:
“My new Mix tape titled “Kate Moss Titties” is finally done and I wanted to share it with you guys. (It’s fucking BANGING, which is hard to say in a world filled with mundane vanilla flavored mix tapes from every wanna be DJ)”
Not sure if that is a fair statement but the mix is pretty fruity and gives me a good reason to put a nice little of Kate up on me site. Raaaa
With lines like, “I love my cocaine”, “I need drugs” and “I f*ck my way to the top”, this track is pretty representative of a big part of the club scene, as far as DJ groupies go. Boasting solidly satisfying beats and beautiful late-’80s Detroit stabs ‘n’ pads, ‘Deva’ remix is a beautiful and addictive rush. It triggers warm, fuzzy images of sexy VIP rooms in the world’s top house and techno clubs. If you don’t listen to this right away, you’re going to miss out on one of the best 4 / 4 licks in recent years. DJ groupies: look over your shoulder But why is it called ‘Deva’? Is that a typo or something? Unless Dapayk is referring to the sanskrit word for “god” or “deity”, we think it is. They surely meant “Diva”! It’s not suited to the darker dance floors, but as an intro, this will hook the crowd in and leave you able to take a set in many directions. You can continue with the smooth vibes, or drop something a little harsher for a nice contrast. We just love the chick chit-chatting naughty things across the track, it’s all very ironic but familiar in some strange way… Proceed to aim your rolled up banknotes over track #4 in the Beatport Player and snort hard.
Waveform was a wicked festival. Generally the people were really chilled and friendly, it was hassle-free, and the music was crisp, loud and banging.
I was expecting a big glade-style festival - large crowds and heaving dancefloors. With only about 2000 people though, it was pretty small, and when I first checked out the dancefloors I admit I was not impressed, particularly with the archangel stage (where most of the breaks was and where I knew I would spend most of my time) which was the smallest main arena and tiny in comarison to some festival stages. However, this minor problem spawned three massive advantages which made the festival so good: 1. You could walk from one end of the festival to the other in less than 10 minutes - even in the mud - which meant no long missions to get something back at the campsite. 2. If you lost your mates you would inevitably bump into them again shortly. 3. It created a really cool intimate vibe that ive never felt at a festival before. Besides, when the music is good it doesn't really matter what size the tent is.
Apart from a couple of nobs selling overpriced laughing gas the crowd was probably the friendlist ive ever seen at a festival. The security were also really chilled- upon arrival they greeted us in a friendly manor but barely checked our wristbands, let alone considered searching us. About half an hour later we were sorting various lines out and some security people approached with a full view of what we were up to, asked us how we were doing and then just left us to it.
Waveform this year was set in a beautiful green countryside location. A big green hill loomed over the whole area which was cool, and with a short walk up to the top you were gifted with a beautiful view over the whole festival and beyond. The odd seemingly wild horse impressively darting around the steep slope was also a nice touch. There was some tasty organic food on offer in the 'Organic Food Emporium' (I particularly liked the Indian/Chinese place offering chinese style chicken samosas), and some good homemade beer and cider available from the bar.
Walking from the campsite there were 4 main arenas in a row- Project storm (techno, dnb, hard trance), the Tribe of Frog tent (all things psychadelic and dressed up in typical ToF style), the Archangel tent (breaks, dnb) and then tucked into the corner of the festival finally was the main stage, which had everything from psy-trance to reggae bands to minimal blasting out from its brilliant speakers-big up Opus Pocus for some amazing sound. The other tents boasted good systems as well. Archangel had the infamous funktion one which never fails to blow me away. The Tribe tent had the music at really nice volume- loud and crisp without being offensive. The 24 hour music license for saturday night was also a massive bonus and something more festivals defintely need to imitate. Stand out acts for me were the Equalizers with some fat and energetic electro / breaks, Subterra with some dark late-night dnb, and of course the mighty Far Too Loud who came on directly after the fairly ridiculous 'Earth Dance' and smashed it with a live set showcasing their mind-blowing psychadelic take on breakbeat. There was also some really good pys-trance, probably some good hard-trance (although I personally wouldn't know), and for all the minimal lovers out there, I heard some really cheaky sounding stuff pumping from the main stage which im sure was jokes. On top of this there was also the Cats Cradle stage, a little tent with a bit everything, offering a chilled escape from the main throb of the festival. Basically, there was great music of all varieties on offer at any given time so you could nearly always find what you were looking for (without of course going on a long trek). In fact, there was only one major problem with Waveform- during the day the crowd were generally much more up for chilling than dancing, which meant the tents were often quite empty. This was particularly the case with the main stage. There were times when some brilliant reggae bands were playing out in the sunshine on a great system and only about ten people were taking any proper interest, which to me seemed almost criminal. Perhaps the organisers need to think about the positioning of the stage- being the furthest from the campsite it is quite easy to get drawn into another tent on your way, even against your intentions.
There was also the mud. However, whilst it did get quite muddy there was still plenty of grass to chill out on and keep the place attractive, and anyone who had been to Bestival the week before would have felt blessed in comparison. You cant go to an English festival and complain about the mud, especially give then time of year.
Waveform was simply very fun and very easy- easy to find, a short queue to get in, short walks about the place, really good drugs in abundance, and plenty of good music. At just £78 a ticket plus the fact that its possibly the last festival of the summer, there really are no excuses for not showing up next year!
So there is a lotof banta about at the moment about this tune. Personally, Soulwax dont always do it for me. That isnt to say that they arent the a couple of the finest mixologists about, being able to mix up pretty much anything, but sometimes their mixes are a bit much. This tune you can get down to. It's rowdy. Click here to get that shiznit! Raaaa
Topless Russian DJ didn’t fake it, respond girldjs.ru
Following on from yesterday’s debacle about Mari Ferrari, a topless Russian DJ who allegedly faked it during a gig in Spain, her agency girldjs.ru have hit back with what they say is proof that she didn’t wing it.
“Here are three photos where it is clearly visible [that Mari Ferrari] is doing a sequence of DJ actions, which show that she was mixing,” they said, whilst zooming in on photos taken from the gig to highlight that the mixer faders were being used.
“The headphones are also clearly visible,” continued girldjs.ru.
They then pointed out that if Mari had turned up with only a laptop, she would have received similar complaints despite the fact that many “DJs [use] laptops so they don’t have to drag boxes of vinyl around with them.”
Certainly Mari Ferrari faces a uphill battle to be taken seriously, as she DJs naked.
The controversy surround this little embargo continues with rival DJs having a real old dig at naked Mari. With Coco Ariaz quoted as saying the following in response to her denial.
"You sounds more nuts than your words even here.. You think you intimidate me with your words? How dare you! Maybe you should think why all this is happening and what I can tell you, be careful because the only court that can solve this problem is in Spain (because the event was there) and believe me, you will fall from your own weight due that in case like this sueing go ahead as you say, all the testimonies from all the people involved in the event that see your fake dj actions will go to light, what means your agency and you will be the ones who will suffer the consecuences of the legal court decission and will make you dissapear from the scene straight away forever.. Be careful with your words crazy cow"
When I started researching Banksy Tattos, I thought it would be a bit of a struggle - but I was SO wrong. It appears having tattoos inspired by Banksy’s graffiti is actually very common. If you got one thinking you would have something ‘different’ then sorry to burst your bubble! I think the tattoo with the wall detail behind it is massively over egging the pudding, on all fronts! I'm not a fan of these inks to be honest. I would only get some ink if I knew it was the best tattoo ever, and if I ever saw one that was better I would be gutted... Banksy is good, but he aint good enough to get a piece of me... and judging by the picure above I'm not sue that little likes them either.
Mujava is a DJ from Pretoria, South Africa that was brought to my attention by Zane Lowe, on a radio interview he did on Radio 1. Asked whether he was shocked that it had made it abroad, and recieved the response it had he said replied "yes of course". I cannot imagine why. This tune it heavy. It takes you places that a tune hasnt done for a long time. It's got bits of old-school UK electronica, tribal, minimal, some...hell, I don't even really know how to describe it. If you think this is the sound coming out of Africa, don't, according to Mujava, his sound is unique and he is doing something special. With his help there will be more.
The electronic music scene has been dominated by Europeans (and, at times, various Americans) for the longest time now, so might this be the beginning of a new wave of electronic music from elsewhere in the world? Still too soon to say, but this song is intriguing at the very least and hopefully we'll be seeing more from Mujava and his peers soon. The single came out digitally on Warp Records/This Is Music LTD on August 11th, and will be out on 12" next week, on the 15th. I won't post the MP3 for download since friends of mine are ones putting it out, but I'll at least stream it so that you can fall in love with it and then go buy it yourself.
Here is a great RMX by Ashley Beedle though. Dowload that here

When Spanish booking agency Class Concept International paid a large sum of money for a female Russian DJ to perform topless at an outdoor event in Tenerife, Canary Islands, afterwards they were left bitterly disappointed and felt they had been victims of a scam. But it wasn’t the size of DJ Mari Ferrari’s nipples, or the amount of her body on show, that got the Spanish promoters ruffled. It was her DJing skills, or rather, the lack of her DJing skills, that caused Class Concept to send an open letter to the industry claiming that the Russian DJ agency girldjs.ru was in fact a lie. A serious artist: Mari Ferrari “This supposed female DJ from Russia during her performance at the event was playing from a tiny CD wallet (the same as the one we use in the car normally) an already pre-mixed music set from one or two CDs, and she was faking the movements of a real DJ, when she wasn´t really doing it for real, just acting,” claimed the Spanish. “All the people involved in the event who were in the DJ box at the time, including DJs, promoters and camera men from Fashion TV, realised that she wasn´t mixing the music and was just making fake movements and touching the mixer to pretend to the crowd that she was really doing it, but in fact she wasn´t and it was purely a fraud.” They continued: “She was just more occupied with dancing and shaking her head in the DJ box and was just too busy with her dancing movements to get involved in any kind of beat-matching or mixing.” Class Concept concluded, Girldjs.ru are giving DJs “a bad reputation and worst of all, they are making and taking the money from the other serious female/male DJs that are working hard constantly to get it.” When the Spanish promoters complained to girldjs.ru about DJ Mari Ferrari supposedly faking it, the Russians called them liars and even claimed that the other DJs and promoters were on drugs at the time which would have impaired their ability to judge what was real and what wasn’t. All we can say is, what did Class Concept expect? When you book a female DJ to perform topless, it’s not her mixing skills that you’re paying for, but rather her boobs. If she was any good at DJing, then she wouldn’t have to play with her tits out to get gigs. As for girldjs.ru, have you guys never heard of Ableton?

HOW TO FIND CHEAPER INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT TICKETS
Here are a few tips that might save a few bucks for those who are flying into the country:Being a major tourist destination, Salvador is constantly faced with full flights from and to its airport (Airport Luiz Eduardo Magalhães). So, if you include Salvador in your air route, which might raise your spendings a bit. One way to avoid this is to arrive in the country in another of Brazil`s international airports and than complete the journey in domestic flights, excursions, rented car or bus.The best airport option in Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. It has a bigger international flight availability and more options for domestic flights. The Congonhas Airport, also located in the city of São Paulo, is only a few miles away and also has many options for domestic flights.Other gateway options are Rio de Janeiro (Tom Jobim International Airport), Belo Horizonte (Confins Airport), Recife (Guararapes Airport), and Fortaleza (Pinto Martins International Airport).
Check for fares from these airports to the city of Salvador. If you want to check flight tickets, transfers or any other service, please check with the travel agencies partners: (Link to E3). Besides flying to the festival, you can also choose from other options:A cheaper option is to book an excursion trip to the festival in advance. There will be bus excursions leaving from most international airports in the country. Depending on the distance, the trip might take even more that 24 hours, but they are usually nice trips. The busses are in good shape and full of party people. The fares are usually for a round trip. It`s important to check for fares and dates and make your reservation in advance. All others useful info’s check our main website: [click here]
Came across this game, and had a real desire to share the randomness and trippyness of it. Is there a purpose? I'm not sure, maybe, if you find one let me know.
Luckily for our Banksy, Hurricane Gustav didn't hit New Orleans as hard as it was predicted. So there is a chance that these fantastic new Banksy pieces up in the States will still be there... That's if the 'Grey Ghost' hasn't got to them first. Most of the new pieces seem to be a response to a government clean up guy known as the 'Grey Ghost' who's been indiscriminately covering any graffiti in New Orleans with ugly grey paint. These new pieces though are brilliant and the 'Grey Ghost' can fuk off! if he thinks he can put such a dull colour over these epics. Watch this space ...

Banksy Launches Website - Has the World's Most Controversial Graffiti Artist Gone Mainstream?
Banksy, the world’s most famous (and elusive) graffiti artist, has launched a website. The site showcases his work and provides advice for creating your own graffiti. For example, Banksy notes, “Be aware that going on a major mission totally drunk out of your head will result in some truly spectacular artwork and at least one night in the cells.”
You might remember the video of Banksy’s Paris Hilton Hoax, in which hundreds of her records were replaced with a different CD cover. In addition to that hoax, Banksy’s world famous graffiti art has graced every surface from the most renowned government buildings to the walls of the gaza strip. Accordingly, the site is operated by his agents in order to protect his identity. On the site, Banksy has answered some pressing questions about his work:
Is graffiti art or vandalism? That word has a lot of negative connotations and it alienates people, so no, I don’t like to use the word ‘art’ at all. How do you make the stencils so big? By sticking lots of small ones together. Do you sell t-shirts? I don’t make shirts because it would feel like the painting was a guerilla marketing campaign for a fashion label. Has Banksy sold out? That depends on what he does with the money!
Today saw Apple launch the revamp to 3 of their existing products. iTunes and the iPod nano, touch and classic.
Starting with iTunes. Apple today unveiled iTunes 8, which includes breakthrough Genius technology that, with a single click, lets you automatically create playlists from songs in your music library. iTunes 8 also features new ways of viewing your music and video libraries, and it adds television programs in stunning high definition for sale on the iTunes Store.
Steve Jobs then introduced the new iPod Touch. Perfect for music, movies, and games, the new iPod touch features an amazingly thin contoured metal design, a gorgeous 3.5-inch widescreen glass display, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi wireless networking, integrated volume control buttons, a built-in speaker for casual listening, a built-in accelerometer and other advanced sensors, and Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch interface. Available now in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB models. The 8GB is £169 and the 32GB £279. So not much of a cut on price...
Then came the grandest of the re-designs in the shape of the new iPod Nano. Available in nine vibrant colors, the new fourth generation iPod nano — the thinnest iPod ever — features a sleek new design with a curved aluminum and glass enclosure. It also incorporates Genius technology and features a built-in accelerometer that automatically switches to Cover Flow when rotated and automatically goes into Shuffle mode when lightly shaken. iPod nano (4th generation) comes in 8GB and 16GB models, starting at just £109.
The Classic also had some attention paid to it, with the moto of 'One size fits all' applied to it. The new Classic has a standard 120GB of storage, iPod classic can hold up to 30,000 songs, 150 hours of video, or 25,000 photos. That’s more than enough room for a day’s — or a lifetime’s — worth of entertainment.
Unfortunately, computer lovers who have waited 2 - 2 1/2 years for new MacBooks and MacBook Prosare going to have to wait even longer. With another product seminar to be held in October of this year. Price reduction and special iPod slots and tracker pad technology are 'to be expected'. Fingers crossed...
